About the Event

Walk to Remember is an annual fundraising event that has brought our community together for 28 years. It’s a meaningful day where we walk, run, or roll in memory of our loved ones, share stories, and raise vital funds to support our small charity. Every donation helps us continue providing compassionate grief and loss support to those who need it.

The Power of Your Generosity

Grief is a journey no one should have to experience alone. Our annual event provides a chance to make a meaningful difference for those navigating one of life’s most challenging experiences. Your generosity ensures we can continue offering essential support to grieving children, teens, and adults. Here’s how your support makes an impact, on average:

1,200+

Average group visits a year across 220+ grief support groups, where individuals found solace and connection.

1,000+

Average one-to-one grief support sessions annually, providing a space for healing and reflection.

$70,000

Our 2025 fundraising goal to sustain these essential programs and services for 2026.

The more we raise, the more people we can support — helping these numbers grow and ensuring that more people receive the support they need. Learn more about the impact your gift has on someone grieving in your community by clicking here.

Thank you for your unending support through my grief journey and for helping me rebuild my self esteem and confidence. This organization is one of the things I am grateful for and you have become part of my success story.

~ Group Participant

I fundraise because I know the support they (CFGH) provide is life-changing for grieving youth.

Grief can be an isolating journey, but no one should have to navigate it alone. The Centre for Grief and Healing (CFGH) provides free grief peer support to individuals in Halton/Peel and across Ontario - but we can’t do it without you. Your donation directly impacts the sustainability of our programs. For every $8,230 raised, we can run a support group, creating a safe space for healing. Just $207 trains a new volunteer, equipping them to provide compassionate care to those in need.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We want to acknowledge the land on which we gather, and where the Centre for Grief and Healing (BFO-H/P) operates. This land has been and is still inhabited by many Indigenous Peoples since the last Ice Age which was 13,000 years ago. In particular, we acknowledge the territory of the Anishinabek-Ojibway/Chippewa, Huron-Wendat, and Haudenosaunee peoples. The land that is home to the First Nations, Metis, and Inuit people. We are grateful to now be on the land that is the land of Indigenous Peoples since time began.

The land we are presently on is under the stewardship of the Mississaugas of the Credit, who are the signatories of the treaty and holders of the area. We recognize that the land we are on was taken away through colonization, oppression, and expropriation. In the hopes for a better future and building relationships, we recognize, require, and honour what is in the truth and reconciliation report and the calls to action. We acknowledge and are grateful for having the privilege of being where we are, for this land, and for the Indigenous Peoples who have and continue to inhabit this land.

This Land Acknowledgment was created in collaboration with Indigenous Elder, Cat Criger.
