Bids of Hope: Online Silent Auction

February 17–27, 2026

The Centre for Grief and Healing (Bereaved Families of Ontario – Halton/Peel) is excited to share a new fundraising initiative launching in 2026: Bids of Hope.

Bids of Hope is a virtual online silent auction created in partnership with Bereaved Families of Ontario – Toronto. This campaign brings our community together to raise funds for free grief support programs while celebrating the generosity of local businesses and partners.

Running from February 17 to 27, 2026, the auction will feature donated items and experiences that community members can bid on online. Every dollar raised will help us continue offering accessible, compassionate grief support at no cost to those navigating the loss of someone significant.

While the auction site is not yet live, we are currently collecting donated items and sharing details about the campaign so our community can mark their calendars and learn how to get involved.

Supporting Grief Care in Our Community

Funds raised through Bids of Hope directly support our free grief services, including workshops, grief support groups, and one-to-one peer support sessions. These programs are offered at no cost and are made possible through donations and community partnerships.

Every contribution makes a meaningful impact. For example:

  • A $35 item helps provide one one-to-one grief support session

  • A $125 item helps fund an entire grief support group for up to 12 participants

  • A $468 item helps train a volunteer facilitator, extending support to many others over time

Interested in Donating?

If you are a local business, community partner, or individual interested in contributing, your donation will help ensure grief support remains free and accessible to those who need it most. Donated items may include gift cards, products, services, or unique experiences.

All donated items will receive recognition through our website, community newsletter, social media channels, and auction-related promotional materials.

If you or your business would like to contribute an item or experience to Bids of Hope, we would love to hear from you. To ensure inclusion in our promotional efforts, please contact us at fundraising@bereavedfamilies.ca by January 30, 2026.

Thank you for helping us bring hope, comfort, and connection to those navigating grief and loss. Your generosity makes a real and lasting difference.

Thank You To Our Generous Donators:

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We want to acknowledge the land on which we gather, and where the Centre for Grief and Healing (BFO-H/P) operates. This land has been and is still inhabited by many Indigenous Peoples since the last Ice Age which was 13,000 years ago. In particular, we acknowledge the territory of the Anishinabek-Ojibway/Chippewa, Huron-Wendat, and Haudenosaunee peoples. The land that is home to the First Nations, Metis, and Inuit people. We are grateful to now be on the land that is the land of Indigenous Peoples since time began.

The land we are presently on is under the stewardship of the Mississaugas of the Credit, who are the signatories of the treaty and holders of the area. We recognize that the land we are on was taken away through colonization, oppression, and expropriation. In the hopes for a better future and building relationships, we recognize, require, and honour what is in the truth and reconciliation report and the calls to action. We acknowledge and are grateful for having the privilege of being where we are, for this land, and for the Indigenous Peoples who have and continue to inhabit this land.

This Land Acknowledgment was created in collaboration with Indigenous Elder, Cat Criger.
