Our much-loved Loving Memory Ceremony is back and is taking place on Thursday, December 3, 2026 at 6:30PM EST online for a digital candlelight ceremony to offer connection without constraint. A virtual gathering allows us to not be limited by walls, miles, or inclement winter weather. A flame lit can reflect our compassionate community, glowing across screens and hearts alike. In honouring loved ones through virtual memorials, we can feel that love remains constant, visible, and shared.

Join us for an online evening of holding space together for our grief with poetry, music, and speeches meant to help us feel grounded before coming into the holiday season. Participate in the candle lighting ceremony, and send in your memorial to be shared as part of our Scroll of Memories presentation.

What is a Scroll of Memories?
Take a look at past Scroll of Memories here. With your submissions, we compile a slide show accompanied by music sharing memories, memorials, photos and messages about our dearly departed. This is a communal grief share that you help us build. Each slide is composed of a photo (make your own collage and submit it as one photo file) and a message from your heart (500 characters) and the name of your beloved so we can get to know them a little and share in your grief together.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We acknowledge the land on which we gather, and where the Centre for Grief and Healing (BFO-H/P) operates. This land has been and is still inhabited by many Indigenous Peoples since the last Ice Age which was 13,000 years ago. In particular, we acknowledge the territory of the Anishinabek-Ojibway/Chippewa, Huron-Wendat, and Haudenosaunee peoples. The land that is home to the First Nations, Metis, and Inuit people. We are grateful to now be on the land that is the land of Indigenous Peoples since time began.

The land we are presently on is under the stewardship of the Mississaugas of the Credit, who are the signatories of the treaty and holders of the area. We recognize that the land we are on was taken away through colonization, oppression, and expropriation. In the hopes for a better future and building relationships, we recognize, require, and honour what is in the truth and reconciliation report and the calls to action. We acknowledge and are grateful for having the privilege of being where we are, for this land, and for the Indigenous Peoples who have and continue to inhabit this land.

This Land Acknowledgment was created in collaboration with Indigenous Elder, Cat Criger.
