About The Event

Join us for a heartfelt and informative webinar where we'll explore the unique challenges of coping with grief during the wintertime. In this one-hour free webinar, we'll gently navigate the emotions that can arise when the world outside is frozen, and your heart might feel the same. While we'll touch lightly on managing grief during the holidays, our focus will be on the broader experience of navigating grief throughout the winter, which affects us all.

Our facilitators will guide you through discussions on honoring loved ones, self-care, and understanding the complexities of grief while providing valuable insights, practical tips, and fostering a sense of community support.

We invite you to have a candle to light or an electronic candle to turn on together at the start of the webinar to honour our loved ones.  Brew a cup of hot cocoa or tea, get cozy, and know it's okay to shed some tears. We look forward to providing the insights and support you deserve.

This webinar may be recorded so we can share it with community members who are unable to attend. If you prefer not to appear on camera, that is okay. For those who wish to participate verbally, please be aware that your contributions may be recorded. This event allows for a maximum of 100 participants.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We want to acknowledge the land on which we gather, and where the Centre for Grief and Healing (BFO-H/P) operates. This land has been and is still inhabited by many Indigenous Peoples since the last Ice Age which was 13,000 years ago. In particular, we acknowledge the territory of the Anishinabek-Ojibway/Chippewa, Huron-Wendat, and Haudenosaunee peoples. The land that is home to the First Nations, Metis, and Inuit people. We are grateful to now be on the land that is the land of Indigenous Peoples since time began.

The land we are presently on is under the stewardship of the Mississaugas of the Credit, who are the signatories of the treaty and holders of the area. We recognize that the land we are on was taken away through colonization, oppression, and expropriation. In the hopes for a better future and building relationships, we recognize, require, and honour what is in the truth and reconciliation report and the calls to action. We acknowledge and are grateful for having the privilege of being where we are, for this land, and for the Indigenous Peoples who have and continue to inhabit this land.

This Land Acknowledgment was created in collaboration with Indigenous Elder, Cat Criger.
