SCHOOL CONNECTION

It is a reality that 5%-11% of youth will experience the death of a parent by the end of high school (Ewalt & Perkins).  Students may also lose friends and other family members during this time in their lives as well.  Due to this unfortunate fact, school faculty need to address the aftermath of a  loss with students in a sensitive and respectful way.  Below is some literature intended to provide school staff with information about grief and tips on how to make school less stressful for the grieving youth.
